Brighten Up Your Home With Bold Geometric Patterns

Have you been thinking about brightening up the house for summer? Maybe getting a nursery ready for a new arrival, or turning an unused room into a bright and airy home office or study? You might’ve even already picked out a colour for your new room. Something cool, clean and contemporary, most likely. A good choice.

But what if you could take your paint job to the next level? Say no to more plain walls and empty spaces. Be bold, be brave, and make something beautiful. Try adding a geometric pattern to your room with stripes or shapes. Painting with two colours is also a great way to introduce personality, fun and energy to your room. You can add dimensions to a single accent wall, or character to a bedroom or bathroom.

A professional paint job in 4 easy steps

You might think something so ambitious is best left in the hands of a professional, but not so. Simply create your pattern with Scotchblue™ Masking Tape, and then stand back and admire your loud and proud masterpiece. Here’s how to do it:

  • Prepare your surface: Paint your basecoat and let it dry 24 hours, or skip this step and choose an existing surface.
  • Draw some shapes: Use a pencil to lightly draw your shapes on the surface. You can do this free-hand with a ruler, or by cutting a shape out of cardboard to use as a template.
  • Get taping: Tape around each shape with Scotchblue™ Masking Tape, making sure to protect all areas that you don’t want painted. Remember to keep your pencil lines inside the border of the tape.
  • Paint and reveal: Paint your shapes, and then allow paint to dry for at least 24 hours. Remember that two light coats of paint are better than one thick coat. Slowly remove the tape to reveal your finished design.

If you can think it, you can paint it!

So have a go at painting some fun and simple stripes, as pictured, with super sharp, clean lines, or experiment with different shapes, patterns and cool 3D effects! Your artwork doesn’t have to be limited to the walls, either. Try using Scotchblue™ Masking Tape to decorate furniture, or to add subtle accents around picture frames. You can even add patterns to existing wallpaper and other already decorated surfaces, for a fascinating contrasted look. The possibilities are literally endless, and the only limit is your imagination!

Make it happen with ScotchBlue™ Masking Tape

ScotchBlue™ Masking Tape gives every painter the chance to achieve a high quality, professional finish for their projects, without having to call in the professionals. Traditional masking tapes can leave you with messy edges and sticky, torn pieces of tape, which ruins the effect of your hard work. ScotchBlue™ Masking Tape features a crepe backing, helping it sticks smoothly and securely, even to curved or uneven surfaces.
