Glittering Gold Party

On the opposite side of all-green, you can also do a glittering gold party theme. Everything can centre around the fabulous, glittery metallic colour - from costumes to decorations, and everything in between. That’s a perfect way to make use of the Pot of Gold arts and crafts idea we chat about further down too!

Festive Food to Serve

What’s a party without a menu? It doesn’t have to be a full menu, unless you want it to be. Even having snacks or baked goods can be a great addition (or alternative) to your party.

St. Patrick’s Day Meal Ideas

While serving all green foods may seem like a good idea to fit the holiday theme, it's better to reserve them for snacks and baked goods. Instead, for a full meal, we recommend serving traditional Irish recipes to honour the spirit of the holiday. It's a great way to pay homage to the origin of the celebration. Consider serving dishes that include beef, lamb, cabbage, potatoes, and soda bread. We'd recommend an Irish stew, consisting of lamb or beef, potatoes, carrots, and onions. 5 Simple St. Patrick’s Day Arts & Crafts Ideas Suitable for All Ages

If you're searching for a way to get into the spirit of St. Paddy’s Day, consider trying some easy St. Patrick's Day crafts. This list of simple arts and crafts ideas is ideal for those looking to make crafts with kids or creating DIY St. Patrick's Day decorations.

Make a Pot of Gold

St. Patrick’s Day is synonymous with rainbows that have a hidden pot of gold at the end of it. So, why not make your own pot of gold?

For this craft, you’ll need mini cauldrons. You can rifle through your Halloween decorations for these small trinkets. Then douse the cauldrons in craft glue and roll them in gold glitter. Or, if you’d prefer, you can spray paint them in gold glitter. Once completed, you'll have an adorable pot of gold with a sparkling finish. For an added touch, you can fill it with gold foil-covered chocolates and sweets to really capture the essence of a pot of gold.

This craft is perfect for kids who need a quick and easy activity to keep them engaged during St. Patrick's Day festivities. However, it's also a great option for creating DIY decorations and party favours. You could even use them to store party essentials, like cutlery, or fill with treats for your guests.

Create a Themed Balloon Arch

If you’re planning to have a St. Patrick’s Day party this year, then why not try your hand at creating a themed balloon arch? To do this, you’ll need balloons in the different shades of green, white, and orange. Blow up the balloons the size you want. You can play around with making three different balloon sizes to add visual interest. After, string them together with floral wire. Give yourself some extra room on each end of the arch. Then, tape it to a wall for a great place to take photos with your guests!

Build a Leprechaun Trap

In keeping with the folklore of St. Patrick's Day, a fantastic craft idea for kids revolves around leprechauns - specifically, catching one! Before starting on this craft, take the time to teach your kids about the fun myth of leprechauns and explain how they can be tricky to catch. Once your kids have an understanding of the concept, encourage their creativity by letting them design and construct their own "leprechaun traps" using everyday household materials. This craft idea can be done the day before St. Patrick's Day, and once the kids have gone to bed, you can make it appear as though a leprechaun has been checking out their traps!

Paint Leprechaun Hats

And continuing with the leprechaun theme, creating and painting leprechaun hats is a great St. Patrick’s Day art idea to keep kids busy. Gather terracotta plant pots of different sizes. With green paint and a paintbrush, cover the entire plant pot in green. Then, using either black paint or black construction paper, paint or wrap a band of black just at the base of an upside down terracotta plant pot. You can also use gold paint or glitter to create a buckle on the black band. Once you're finished, you could use it as a decoration on a table or counter!

Put Together a St. Patrick’s Day Wreath

For almost every holiday, a wreath is a great way to get into the festive spirit. Why not create one for this St. Patrick’s Day? There are plenty of ways to make your own, so it all comes down to what you prefer in a wreath. You can re-purpose Christmas decor and ornaments to create a green bauble wreath.  Alternatively, you could use ribbon, tulle, and other fabrics to create a full, bright green wreath. If you love all things plants and gardening, why not create a natural wreath with plenty of greenery, including some shamrock, and some Irish colour-themed flowers!

If you’ve tried out any of the above, why not add them as table centrepieces? Many of our St. Patrick’s Day arts and crafts ideas are perfect for table centrepieces. Things like your leprechaun hats and your pots of gold would make fantastic table decor. If you need some added table centrepieces, we have plenty for you to choose from here

Outdoor Decoration Ideas

The outside of your home is the first impression for your guests, so don’t forget to add a few decorations there too! Think of hanging fabric drapes in Ireland’s colours in your window. Add a novelty banner over top of the fabric drapes to really create visual interest. Bunting is another great idea for creating a fun and festive entry to your home. You could also hang St. Patrick’s Day signs on your doors or windows, or even your DIY wreath, if you created one based on our previous suggestion, of course!
