Halloween Party Games & Activities

One of the best ways to keep your guests entertained this Halloween is by organising a number of games and activities. From classic party games with a spooky twist, to crafting, costume contests, and a Halloween movie marathon, we have plenty of ideas below to get the ball rolling!

Classic Party Games with a Halloween Twist

They're classic party games for a reason! Enjoyed by most at childhood parties, why not bring them back for your older guests for a touch of nostalgia? Add a spooky twist to each of them to create the perfect set of Halloween party games for your event. Here are some of our top ideas:

  1. Bobbing for "Poisoned" Apples: Add a toxic symbol or skull and cross bones to the outside of the bowl or bucket you plan to use for the game. Fill the container with water and apples. Tie the player's hands behind their back and watch them try to catch an apple using only their mouth.
  2. Pin the Hat on the Witch: Just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, guests will be blindfolded and expected to correctly pin the hat on the witch.
  3. Zombie Darts: Using a dart board, place a picture of a zombie at the centre. Whoever manages to land the dart on the zombie's head wins.
  4. Eyeball & Spoon Race: Replace the classic egg or potato with an edible eyeball, or small bouncy ball with an eye design on it, on top of a spoon. Have your guests race from one end of the room to the other. Whoever makes it to the far side first without dropping their eyeball, wins.
  5. Halloween Music Bingo: Put together a playlist of classic Halloween party tunes. Mock up bingo cards with the titles of the songs on them. Have your guests listen to the music and mark off any that match on their sheet. The first one to get bingo wins. This can be played throughout the night or have a dedicated time set for it.

Costume Contest

What better way to get your guests in the Halloween spirit than by hosting a costume contest? Invite everyone to arrive fully decked out in their best Halloween costume. Host a costume catwalk where everyone can show off their outfits and have a table of judges to vote for their favourite. Make sure you have the perfect spooky prize for the winner too!

Pumpkin Crafting

Get crafty with your guests this Halloween by having everyone decorate a Halloween staple - a pumpkin. Whether you choose to spray or hand paint real pumpkins, carve out some pumpkin art, or create your own pumpkins using paper or fabric, your guests will have a great time creating their own DIY decorations! Make sure you gather plenty of crafting materials in advance for everyone to use. Some the things you may need include:

Your guests can bring their pumpkins home as a token from a party they'll be sure to remember!

Create Your Own Halloween Mask

Another great way to craft this Halloween is by getting your guests to create their own masks. Make sure you supply plenty of plain white masks, along with paint, paint brushes, glitter and any other crafting materials you may need to create the perfect Halloween mask. Just like the pumpkins, your guests will have something unique and fun to bring home to remember the great time they had!

Halloween Movie Marathon

Why not keep things simple with a classic Halloween scary movie marathon for your guests? Pre-party, put together a list of everyone's favourite Halloween movies and pick your top few choices to screen. Create the perfect cinema atmosphere with dim lighting, surround sound speakers, and tons of popcorn.
