Accessibility statement

Our commitment

We are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to achieve this.

Conformance status

Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities.

We acknowledge that not all areas of our website currently meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards. We are actively working to identify and resolve these issues and are committed to bringing all content up to the required level of accessibility.

Measures we're taking

To improve accessibility, we have taken the following measures:

  • Conducted an initial accessibility audit to identify areas for improvement
  • Established an accessibility roadmap to implement future enhancements
  • Training our development and content teams on accessibility best practices
  • Committed to regular testing with assistive technologies

Known issues:

  • Images without descriptions: Some images on our website don't have text descriptions yet. This makes it hard for screen readers to tell users what the images show.
  • Table navigation: Some of our tables need better labels to help screen readers understand how information is organized in rows and columns.
  • Page zooming: We're working to make sure all content works properly when you zoom the page to 200% or larger text size.
  • Screen rotation: Some pages may not display correctly when you rotate your device from portrait to landscape mode or vice versa.
  • Contact form focus issue: When using the Tab key to navigate our contact form, the first highlighted field appears outside the visible screen area. You may need to scroll up to see where your cursor is located.

Third-party content

There are areas of our website controlled by third-party companies, such as chat & reviews. These are not developed or controlled by Woodie’s but work is in progress to resolve as many issues related to these areas as feasibly possible.

Videos

We are working through our videos to add closed captions and audio descriptions

Current accessibility improvements

Along with the known issues listed above, here are the areas we are currently focusing on improving:

Keyboard navigation:

  • Making sure all functions work with a keyboard, not just a mouse
  • Ensuring you can navigate through content in a logical order
  • Providing clear visual indicators when elements are in focus
  • Ensuring focus indicators aren't hidden by other content
  • Adding shortcuts to bypass repeated content
  • Making sure off-screen elements aren't accidentally focusable

Page structure:

  • Using proper HTML elements to ensure content is structured logically
  • Making sure code is clean and correctly formatted

Heading structure:

  • Organising content with clear, descriptive headings
  • Using headings in a logical sequence to help navigation
  • Using section headings to organise content effectively

Forms:

  • Making form fields properly labelled and easy to understand
  • Adding appropriate autocomplete attributes to input fields
  • Providing clear instructions for form completion
  • Ensuring form elements are identified correctly by assistive technology

Carousels:

  • Carousels or Sliders should have play/pause functionality when autoplay is enabled
  • Hidden slides should not be focusable by the user when using keyboard controls

Links:

  • Writing link text that clearly describes where the link will take you

Images:

  • Adding descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images
  • Only using images of text when absolutely necessary

Colour contrast:

  • Ensuring text has sufficient contrast against its background
  • Making sure interface elements and graphics have adequate contrast
