Woodie’s Heroes Fundraising for Down Syndrome Ireland

Meet Maidhcí
Five-year-old Maidhcí is from county Clare where he lives with his mum and dad, Caitriona and Cathal, and his sister Céala and brother Charlaí. Maidhcí and his family have received great support from their local Down Syndrome Ireland branch in Limerick.
During Covid, the family were supported by the Keep Communicating Programmeon Zoom, led by Speech and Language Therapist Olive Buckeridge. After lockdown Olive then visited Maidhcí’s local branch for in-person classes.
Now in junior infants, Maidhcí is known as a born entertainer who loves to make people laugh. Maidhcí can now both better interact and be better understood by his cousins, friends and siblings. He has already benefited from the Woodie's Heroes campaign with the See and Learn Packs and speech and language sessions through the Keep Communicating Programme.
With the help of Woodie’s Heroes…
This year, your support for the Woodie’s Heroes campaign is helping Down Syndrome Ireland provide vital services and support to individuals with Down syndrome and their families across Ireland.
Down Syndrome Ireland offers so much more than advocacy - they provide vital communication supports, education, community connections, and lifelong support to empower people with Down syndrome to live full, inclusive lives.
Every journey is unique, and Down Syndrome Ireland is there every step of the way, helping to build confidence, independence, and opportunity.
Thanks to your generosity, we’re making a real difference in the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families across Ireland.
