Woodie’s Heroes Fundraising for Cancer Fund for Children

Meet Caoimhe

Caoimhe is 6 years old and lives in Carlow with her mum and dad Clare and Daryl, and her sister Aoibheann.  In August 2023, the family received the life-changing news, that Caoimhe had a Wilms’ tumour on her kidney. Caoimhe’s treatment then began soon after, leading to surgery to remove her kidney and tumour. Caoimhe’s treatment went well, and she proceeded to mark her all clear result by ringing the bell in Crumlin Children’s Hospital on 5th July 2024, marking the end of her cancer journey.

Cancer Fund for Children were a massive support to the whole family during Caoimhe’s treatment. Claire Kennelly, her Cancer Support Specialist from CFFC, helped Caoimhe learn mindfulness tools, like hot chocolate breathing, which helped Caoimhe when it came facing injections as part of her treatment.

With the help of Woodie’s…

With the support of Woodie’s Heroes, CFFC can expand their community services in Ireland including hospital and homebased therapeutic sessions, so children feel better equipped to cope with the emotional impact of cancer.

Beyond essential medical care, families need emotional support and practical help. Cancer Fund for Children creates a safe space for families facing unimaginable challenges. Every family’s journey is unique, and they are there every step of the way, helping to ease the burden and bring moments of hope when it’s needed most.

Thanks to your generosity, we’re making a real difference in the lives of children and their families across Ireland.
