Wallpaper Week: Social Driving Décor

It’s Wallpaper Week and Woodies are excited to get the country shouting about wallpaper! Celebrating design, colour, pattern and how the humble roll can transform your home within a matter of hours.

People are taking to their social media accounts to be influenced on home decorating, the next step in the ever-developing role of social media as it continues to cross boundaries from our virtual lives to our real. Whether it’s the likes of the latest Love Island starlet or a football hero, the living rooms of the famous are driving the décor in our own homes. The survey, which coincides with International Wallpaper Week, shows over half of people surveyed said they had been influenced to buy a décor product and even redecorate their home as a result of something a celebrity and influencers posted on social media.

Interior design inspiration has an online home: Pinterest. 250 million home decorators and DIY fanatics flock to the platform each month, so in turn, the social media platform tracks how users are influenced by the latest fashion in home décor. Searches on Pinterest for bold print wallpaper are up 400%, as well as mismatched prints and vintage wallpaper also up by 90%, people are looking for ways to make statements in their homes.

Superfresco Easy found that 60% of people who use Pinterest have been tempted to redecorate a room in their home after seeing something online, with 10% of pinners are obsessive about wallpaper. Pinterest users also redecorate their homes more frequently, re-doing rooms every 2 years or more, close to nearly double the national average.
