How To Replace a Ballcock & Float Valve

  • Ball Float 
  • Float Valve 
  • Adjustable Wrench
  • Water Pump Pliers 
  • Multi Purpose Plastic Bucket

  • 1 Turn off water.
  • 2 Flush the toilet the drain the cistern.
  • 3 Remove the lid
  • 4 Unscrew the float arm from the old valve unit.
  • 5 Remove this from cistern
  • 6 Use a cloth to soak up any extra water.
  • 7 Use a bucket for any extra spillage
  • 8 Locate the coupling unit under the cistern and unscrew.
  • 9 Unscrew the retaining nut found above the coupling nut.
  • 10 Remove the old float valve and position in the new float valve.
  • 11 Measure distance to side of cistern.
  • 12 Cut to length
  • 13 Attach ball float to float valve.
  • 14 Position float arm.
  • 15 Tighten retaining nut.
  • 16 Replace coupling nut and water inlet pipe.
  • 17 Turn water back on.
  • 18 Check that the ball float doesn’t rub off the tank
  • 19 Adjust nut at base of float arm.
  • 20 To fill to water line
  • 21 Put lid back on.
  • 22 Test by flushing.
  • 23 FINISHED!
